About these terms
Who we are and what these terms cover
This website is run by Forge Skylights Birmingham. These terms apply to your use of the website and set out how our surveys and quotes lead to a contract. The written quote for your job, once you accept it, sets out the specific work, units and price, and it takes priority over anything general on this page.
You can contact us by email at info@forgeskylightsbirmingham.co.uk, by phone on 0121 405 2174, or on WhatsApp at 07880 284133.
Using the website
Information on this website
We write the guides and answers on this website to help you understand your options, and we keep them up to date as far as we reasonably can. They are general information, not advice for your particular home. Planning rules, Building Regulations and product details change, and your own address or roof can change the answer, which is why every job starts with a survey.
The words, photographs and design of this website belong to us or are used with permission. You may view and print pages for your own use. Links to other websites are provided for convenience; we are not responsible for their content.
Surveys and quotes
How a quote becomes a contract
- The survey is free and places you under no obligation.
- The written quote sets out each suitable option with its unit, glass, opening type, the maker's expected lead time and the price, and states how long the prices are valid.
- The contract is made when you accept one option in writing and we confirm it. The quote and its confirmation together are the contract.
- Changes you ask for after acceptance, or changes needed because of something hidden that the survey could not reasonably reveal, are agreed with you in writing before the extra work is done.
Your rights
Cancelling, and your statutory rights
If the contract is agreed in your home or at a distance, the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 give you 14 days to cancel without giving a reason. If you ask us to start work within that period, you may have to pay for the work done up to the point you cancel, and units made to measure for your home may not be returnable.
Our work is carried out with reasonable care and skill, as the Consumer Rights Act 2015 requires, and nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights. Our 10-year workmanship guarantee is given in addition to those rights.
Responsibility
What we are responsible for
We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking this contract or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We do not exclude liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence. Product faults in the unit itself are covered by the manufacturer's guarantee, which we will help you use.
The law
Complaints and governing law
If something goes wrong, our complaints procedure explains what to do. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and you can bring proceedings in the courts of the part of the UK where you live.
